ADMISSION POLICY

Over the years we have consistently made admissions on the following basis:

  • A minimum essential percentage determined by the number of seats available and the marks actually obtained by the students who apply to us.

  • Consideration to Catholics under the minority rights enshrined in the Constitution of India (and for whose education the College was founded).

  • Special consideration to the economically and socially disadvantaged and preference to students from scheduled castes and tribes.

  • The procedures and guidelines for admission laid down by the Government and accepted by the College (since 1997):

Fresh admissions to Std. XI and to the First Year B.A./B.Sc./B.Com./BMS/BMM are conducted soon after the S.S.C. and H.S.C. results respectively, of Mumbai Divisional Board are announced.

The College runs a small Hostel on campus for male students of the Senior College only, at which preference is given first to students of the Basic and Natural Sciences and to the other students on the basis of seniority,
first to the Third Year students and then in descending order, to the Second and First Year students. The rooms are all meant for two occupants each. Admission is not guaranteed and the Hostel Superintendent will
accept applications only after admission to the College has been secured.

Students from outside Mumbai also find accommodation in other Hostels or as paying guests with some family. We have arrangements with a Hostel at Seva Niketan, Byculla, to accomodate about 30 male students of the Senior College.

Our academic year is from June to April.

The Address of the College is: The Principal, St. Xavier's College, 5, Mahapalika Marg, Mumbai 400 001, India. Phone: 91-22-22620661 or 22620662 or 22620665.
