Additional Credits to be completed over the six semesters:

               (Work related to the major subject completed in the summer between the S.Y. and T.Y.)

 

These additional credits are Mandatory Credits. However, these Grades will not be counted in the final GPA.

 

Students should earn a total of 150 + 5 = 155 Credits for the degree program.

n  1 credit corresponds to varying hours of contact per week over 15 weeks depending on the subject (major/non major) / Faculty of study / Year of study / Practical/Lecture.

 

 
 
 

COURSE CONTENT

 

The programmes of study leading to the B.A., B.Sc. and B.Com. degrees, under the three-year integrated Bachelor’s program are as follows:

 

ARTS

 

A student for the B.A. degree examination will be required to offer 40 courses, and the break-up of these courses will be as under:

 

I.                   Core (Special Subjects)

(Including FOUR courses of an

 Applied nature related to the

                        III.       General Applied Component                          …2 courses

FIRST YEAR

(Total 600 marks – each paper of 100 marks)

 

§  Foundation Course -  two courses

§  Communication Skills in English

§  Language (other than English): Literature in a Modern Indian Language or a Classical or a Modern Foreign Language

§  (i)        A student may offer six courses from the Social Science

            Group, or

(ii)               A student may offer four courses from the Social Sciences Group and two from the Languages Group, or

(iii)             A student may offer two courses from the Social Science Group and four courses from the Language Group.

Change of subjects in Senior College will be allowed till 15th July subject to availability of seats. However, subjects, either compulsory or optional, which do not have the minimum enrolment required by Government / University will not be offered.

 

 

Students are expected to choose any three subjects (one from each Group), in order of preference, for the first two years.

 

The choice of major/s will be decided only at the beginning of the Third Year B.A., when Heads of Departments will interview the students after reviewing the attendance and performance in their First and Second Year Terminal Examinations.  The College will not be responsible if students are not granted the choice of their major(s) in their Third Year B.A., nor if students have to leave the College because their performance does not satisfy the minimum requirements laid down by Heads of Departments to which they seek admission.

A student shall offer any one of the course combinations available to the FYBSc, with three subjects and two courses of the Foundation Course.

 (single majors): Chemistry, Geology, Life Sc., Maths, Physics &
       Statistics.

b. (double majors): Botany, Biochem., Life Sc., Microbiology & Zoology,
       provided the subject has been offered at the SYBSc level.

3.      The existing pattern for the BSc degree course is liable to be changed based on

EVALUATION

 Theory

 

·         Evaluation of students is based on both Continuous Assessment ( CIA ) and End Semester 

Assessment (ESA).

·         The distribution of weightage between the Continuous Assessment and End Semester Examinations is 40: 60 respectively.

·         A student will be permitted to appear for the End Semester Examinations provided he/ she has a minimum of 75% Attendance per course, has completed the C I.A. requirement of test/ assignment/ seminars/ project work etc. and has his/her  journal (where practicals are prescribed)   certified by the department concerned 

·         The End Semester Examination will be in the form of a comprehensive written/ Computer based/ Practical examination for each course held at the end of each semester.

·         For the End Semester Examinations of F.Y. courses there will be a Single Evaluation with Moderation .

 

Continuous Internal Assessment ( CIA)

  • Mid Semester Test ( 45 min)  - 50% of CIA marks 
  • Assignment /Quiz/Seminar/ Presentation/ etc. – 50 % of CIA marks
  • Percentage or Grade for attendance will be awarded on the marksheet.

 

Practicals

 

  • Continuous Internal Assessment : End Semester Assessment – 40  : 60
  • End Semester Exam  60%
  • Journal                       15%
  • Mid Semester Test     25%

 

  • For FY there will be an Annual Practical Exam
  • Journal Certification would require 75% Attendance per Paper / Category of Experiments as specified by the Department

 

 

Minimum Pass Percentage

  • for Continuous Internal Assessment : 20%
  • for  the End Semester  Exam : 35%
  • for CIA + ESA: 40%
