Bombay Local History Society (BLHS) Annual Seminar held at St. Xavier’s College on the 11th July, 2015.
Dr. Anita Rane, Head, Ancient Indian Culture & Archaeology (AIC) has introduced a paper on Research Methodology for the M.A. Students.
Her students of MA – Part II presented dissertations on The Construction of History through the Oral Tradition with reference to the city of Bombay now Mumbai.
The students reviewed a variety of source materials – epigraphical, archaeological, numismatics, art, architecture, literary, the bardic and oral traditions.
Through the oral tradition, history of "others" is highlighted since it covers the study of every section of society who have contributed to the growth and development of the nation.
Seven students prepared a fifteen minutes presentation of their study which was presented at the Annual Seminar of the Bombay Local History Society on the 11th July at St. Xavier's College. Kindly click below to read the synopsis of the students' presentations.
International Yoga Day at St. Xavier's College
The staff and students of our college actively participated to celebrate International Yoga Day.
The event was supposed to be held on 21st June, 2015 but due to unfavourable weather conditions this event was successfully conducted on 24th June, 2015.

This is to confirm that I will be retiring as Principal at the end of May after almost 12 years at the helm. St. Xavier’s has a new Principal from the 1st of June 2015. This will be the first time a Jesuit will not be Principal. Based on the recommendation of the Selection Committee that met on 12th May 2015, the Jesuit Management is pleased to appoint Dr. Agnelo Menezes as Principal.
Dr. Agnelo Menezes has been a popular teacher, whose insistence on academic rigour and critical thinking, has led him to practice an innovative style of teaching and learning. He has been a promoter of research through the personal help he has offered faculty and by shepherding the new Xplore Journal. He has also helped mentor our new course, the Masters in Public Policy. He is the Warden of the College Hostel and Faculty Advisor In-Charge of the Social Involvement Programme. He is best suited to take the College forward in the years ahead.
Malhar 2014 won 5 awards at YIFA for the following categories:
Best Festival, Best Dress Code, Best Social Publicity Campaign, Best Mascot and runners up for Social Cause
