In an endeavor to further the holistic understanding of Ancient Indian Culture in all its parameters, this course provides a sound grounding in understanding the various vistas of our history and culture. It helps in promoting the conservation and management of our heritage. It opens the door to opportunities in the streams of Archaeology, Museology, Conservation, Social Sciences and Humanities. This course aims at helping students to:

Comprehend the theoretical framework in which to study Indian Culture, Indian Archaeology and Museology

Work with Indian Archaeological data and analysis. 

Have practical experience via field trips, practical and workshops.

Number of Seats: 60 Seats

Fees: Total fees, sanctioned by the Board of Management, St. Xavier’s College (Autonomous), Mumbai are:

  • M.A. Part I: Rs. 38,500
  • M.A. Part II: Rs. 38,500

Note: i) Fees are subject to revision, and any updates will be communicated accordingly.
ii) A fee for Document Verification of Rs.1250/- is applicable to students from other than Maharashtra Board.
iii) The fee for the Part 1 of the Batch 2025–2026 shall be as specified above.
The fee amount for the Part 2 of the Batch 2025–2026 shall remain the same as that paid in the First Year, corresponding to each student’s chosen subject combination.

Selection Criteria: An Entrance Exam is held for students other than Arts, and for students from other universities.
